I pray that I may care enough, to love enough, to share enough, to let others become what they can be. -John O'Brien

Welcome to St. Augustine Church's Rite of Christian Initiation!

RCIA Team and Facilitators

The group meets approximately three Thursday evenings every month from 7 to 9PM beginning in September and ending in May. The team usually meets the additional Thursdays each month for formation and ongoing preparation of the program. The RCIA group is extremely visible in the church during this year long process as they rotate among all Mass times for group dismissals and gospel discussions as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at our Easter Vigil Mass. This journey is a lengthy emotional and spiritual journey that begins with inquiry during the summer months and involves many steps along the way. Some of the main portions that the church community participates in with the RCIA group include: The Rite of Election, The Rite of Acceptance, The First, Second and Third Scrutinies, and of course, the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter Vigil Mass. Additionally, the RCIA group participates in a meeting with the Bishop, two or more interviews with the staff and Father Mike and much sharing of themselves with the other RCIA participants, sponsors and team members during the Thursday night sessions and the January overnight retreat.  Please call the Parish office at 804-275-7962 for more information.  You may also email Eileen Brown or any of the Facilitators.

RCIA News:  The RCIA group went on retreat to Chanco on the James on Jan 28, 2006.   On March 5th, 2006, there will be the  Rite of Sending (at St. Augustine) and the Rite of Election at the Cathedral with the Bishop. We will have photos for that also.  Keep these good people in your prayers are they continue on their "faith journey".  Do you want to know more about RCIA?  Call the church office at 275.7962 or email Eileen Brown or Mary Anne Fighera.  Email Links are below.
