St Augustine's has a wonderful group of about 32+ people in the adult choir. We vary in age from 16 to older.   We rehearse on Wednesday evenings in the church from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, from September to June.   We receive a schedule in advance to let us know which mass we will be singing at each week.   We sing, we pray, we love, we have fun, and we sometimes even cry with each other.   We are a close family within our parish family, and we would love for you to be a part of us.   Reading music is NOT a requirement, in fact half of our choir members do not read music.   We will even teach you to sing in a second language (Spanish), as we also sing at the bilingual services.  Please prayerfully consider joining us in this our ministry to our Lord.  If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Musselman, our choir director. She can be reached at 790-1469.

Kathy's Notes

Hi everyone,

Once again a new year is upon us, and it is time to prepare ourselves for the Lenten / Easter season. I would love to take this opportunity to invite anyone who is interested, to join the choir. We have resumed our weekly practice schedule each Wednesday, at 7:00 PM in the church. We are currently preparing for Holy Week, and the great Easter Vigil. As there are seven readings with seven psalms at the Easter Vigil, you may see some new cantors for those seven psalms.

Lent is a special time for all of us to prepare for the Lord's coming, and our special group of Candidates and Catechumens have been doing a lot of preparing for their upcoming Baptisms, Confirmations, and First Eucharists. Holy Thursday is always a wonderful celebration as we "wash each others feet." Good Friday is one of my favorite Masses, and I feel blessed to be a part of the wonderful music that we have prepared for that evening. In addition, the great Easter Vigil is something that we should all experience at least once. If you have never been to one of our Holy Week services, please consider it this year. It is a very spiritual experience.

Jan Owen has joined us with the beautiful sound of a flute. Jan is also the director of St. Augustines Star choir, and she has given of her time and talent in so many ways. The beautiful music of a flute is a wonderful addition to our liturgies. We are always looking for other instruments in addition to voices, so if you are interested in becoming a part of the choir as an instrumentalist, please see me.

In addition to Ash Wednesday, Lent, Palm Sunday, and Holy Week, we have several other occasions to prepare for. I look forward to singing and praying with each of you, and I hope to see some new faces to join our special family of choir members.

Peace,
Kathy
